Pinoy wins world's favorite bartender award

A Filipino bartender won the "Favorite Bartender" award in the recently-concluded World Bartender Championship held in Dallas, Texas in the United States.

Sir Raminad Ong bested 8 other finalists from the different regions of the world including Latin America, the US, UK, and European Union. Ong was the lone representative from Asia. He received the award after getting the highest fan votes of T.G.I. Friday's World Bartender Championship for 2011, and got $10,000 cash prize.

Ong has been working at the T.G.I. Friday's branch in Robinson's Place in Manila for four years. In his profile, he said showcasing his skills "to the world through this wonderful competition is more than winning."

David Kringlund from Stureplan, Sweden emerged as the "World's Greatest Bartender", besting other 8,000 hopefuls of the largest bartending competition in the world.
