Instagram for Android hits 1M downloads in 24 hours

Popular photo sharing app Instagram has recorded 1 million downloads in the first 24 hours since the announcement of its availability on Google Play (formerly known as the Android Market) on Tuesday.




The free app, since it release, followed 2,000 signups per minute, said Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom. More than 430,000 Android users, had already signed up to be one of "the first in line for Instagram on Android" during a pre-registration period that began on March 25.


As of this posting, Instagram has received 4.4/5 rating from 91,451 users.
