Jasmine Lee wins seat at Korean parliament

Davao-born Jasmine Lee has won a set at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.




Lee run under the Saenuri (New Frontier) Party, where she and other 24 party-mates have been elected. The party got majority of votes in the assembly with 152 of 300 seats.


Lee is set to serve a term, equivalent to four years, and is expected to "maintain proper dignity as an assemblyman, attend the Plenary Session and committee meetings, and comply with legislation and regulations regarding the proceedings."


Lee is a popular TV host, and is the head of the Seoul-based Global Resource Center (GRC), a non-government organization which serves as a support group for foreign wives of Koreans. She became a naturalized Korean in 1998.
