It's never too old for someone like Daphne Selfe to show her guts and poise and to be successful in modeling. For her, beauty is ageless and as long as she can, she'd like to appear on posters and billboards, flaunting her timeless beauty.
For over 60 years, the 83-year old British-Irish has been working in the fashion industry and has appeared in Nivea and Olay commercials, modeled for Dolce & Gabbana designers, and was featured in various fashion magazines like Vogue and Marie Claire.
Since she started modeling in 1950s (she was 20 back then), Daphne became a house model for clothing manufacturers and furriers. She also appeared in some advertising campaigns and earned as much as $1,600 for the jobs.
But Daphne considered her youth as nothing so special, until her big break came quite late in 1998, a year after her husband passed away. Through an agent, she appeared at London Fashion Week where one of the world's largest modeling agencies, Models 1, spotted her. She then appeared in Vogue magazine and from there she became even more popular and was dubbed as the "catwalk queen."
Most recently, she made headlines after agreeing to pose like Madonna in her early career. In one her photo-shoots, she agreed to only wear Madonna's iconic cone, a corset and created by Jean Paul Gaultier.
Ever wondered what her secret is?
A grandmother of four, Daphne said she has never had any cosmetic surgery done. No Botox that is. Significantly natural.
"I've never had anything done to my face... not a facelift. I think it's a waste of money. Anyway, I couldn't afford it!"
