No 'amicable settlement' between Jose Manalo, wife

Despite Jose Manalo's camp hoping for "amicable settlement", the comedian's wife Annalyn still pursued on filing a case against her husband.

Jose and Annalyn faced each other, after roughly 4 months of not seeing and talking to each other, in a San Juan prosecutor's office on Wednesday, April 11. The complainant on February 27 accused Jose of violating Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act.

On her submitted affidavit, she stated: "As time went by, the respondent's outbursts of foul language directed towards me were soon accompanied by extreme violence consisting of him destroying some of our house furniture and other items. There were even times that he spat on my face during his outbursts..."

Annalyn said in an interview on March 4 in ABS-CBN's showbiz talk show The Buzz that Jose abandoned their family for another woman.

The two requested in front of fiscal Dina Paulino to have a "closed door meeting", but after almost 20 minutes, a serious Jose and an almost crying Annalyn went out the room. No "amicable settlement" was done, and Annalyn finally filed a case against the husband.

According to Atty. Lowell Fetizanan, Annalyn's legal counsel, they didn't see any "resentment" from Jose's part.

Jose meanwhile submitted a counter affidavit against the case.
