Disco legend Donna Summer dies

The Queen of Disco Donna Summer died on Thursday, May 17, 2012, due to lung cancer. She was 63.

Summer, a 5-time Grammy winner, became popular with her '70s song "Last Dance," "Hot Stuff" and "Bad Girls."

In the '80s, her hits "She Works Hard for the Money" and "This Time I Know It's for Real" also reached spots in various music charts.

Summer married Bruce Sudano of R&B/disco group "Brooklyn Dreams" in 1980. They had two daughters together.

In 2008, "Crayons," Summer's first full studio album in 17 years, is released. The same year, she performed on American Idol finale with the female finalists.
