A 28-year-old U.S. actor and former boyfriend of pop singer Katy Perry was found dead in the driveway of a home in Los Angeles, California on Thursday (Friday in Manila), police told.
Johnny Lewis, known for his role in TV Series "Sons of Anarchy," went on a bizarre rampage Wednesday morning, killing his elderly landlady and cat before plummeting to his death from a roof in the Los Feliz neighborhood east of Hollywood. It was unknown whether he jumped or fell to the ground.
Court records show Lewis was released from jail a week before being found dead. Reports say he spent time at a drug and psychiatric treatment center, and he was released from county jail September 21.
Lewis' lawyer Jonathan Mandel said he was "surprised" and "baffled" by the deaths, but declined to comment on the actor's criminal history or drug problems for his client's confidentiality requirements.
Before Lewis was discovered Wednesday, neighbors reported hearing a woman screaming in the house, said L.A. Police Cmdr. Andrew Smith.
Neighbors also told authorities that a man had jumped a fence, assaulted a painter and homeowner next door and jumped back.
Lewis was known as Kip "Half-Sack" Epps in "Sons of Anarchy," a series about a man struggling to find a balance between being a new father and his involvement in a motorcycle club.
The actor has also appeared in the teen TV series "Drake and Josh" and the police series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" in 2006.
His big-screen credits include "The Runaways" (2010), "Magic Valley" last year and "186 Dollars to Get Out," completed this year but not yet released, according to the IMDb movie database website.
