PHI 78 - 68 LIB
The Philippine national basketball team Smart Gilas Pilipinas defeated team Lebanon on September 15, Saturday, on the preliminary rounds of the fourth FIBA Asia Cup in Tokyo, Japan, 78-68.
The game was held at the Ota Gymnasium and will be broadcast on AKTV at 8 p.m.
Yesterday, during the team's game against China, the Gilas suffered a three-point deficit and was defeated by the tall Chinese players, 71-68. This makes the win-loss standing of Gilas to 1-1.
The Philippine team needs to make the top four in its group to qualify for the knockout stage of the 10-nation event, originally named Stankovic Cup. Last year, the Philippine team placed fourth overall.
