UST student stabbed inside FEU campus

A student of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) was stabbed by students of Far Eastern University (FEU) inside its campus in Nicanor Reyes Street in Manila.

The victim was identified as Joanne Lourdes Reyes, 20, taking up Information Technology (IT). Her friend, Rosel Armin de Mesa, invited her to watch the SinePiyu Film Festival Monday night at the FEU campus.

DZMM reported that Reyes and de Mesa went back to FEU the next night, to watch the awarding ceremony with their other friends. But as they were walking in the campus around 6:45 p.m., they were allegedly cornered by four to six Nursing students of FEU and pepper-sprayed them.

A report from Inquirer meanwhile said the female students then stabbed Reyes after spraying her in the face. She was rushed to the Chinese General Hospital after sustaining "stab wounds to her back and abdomen," Senior Police Officer 1 Edgar Agbuya said.

Radio reports said the suspects have been identified but have not been arrested by authorities.

FEU's guard on duty by the time the incident happened denied there was a stabbing that took place. The schools administration is expected to conduct its own investigation of what happened.

Reyes is now in stable condition, as her family plans to file a case against FEU and the suspects.
