'Crising' makes landfall, 23 areas under storm warning signal

Tropical depression "Crising" has made landfall over the southern tip of Davao del Sur as it moves in a west northwest direction, the latest bulletin from state weather bureau PAGASA said.

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, "Crising" was located 80 km southwest of General Santos City, with maximum winds of 45 kph near the center. It is moving west northwest at 24 kph.

The following areas have been placed under public storm warning signal no. 1 (45-60 kph winds).

  • southern part of Surigao del Sur
  • Agusan del Sur

  • Sultan Kudarat
  • South Cotabato
  • Sarangani
  • Misamis Occidental
  • Zamboanga del Norte
  • Zamboanga del Sur
  • Zamboanga Sibugay
  • Basilan
  • Sulu
  • Tawi-Tawi
Residents are advised of possible flashfloods and landslides. Estimated rainfall amount is from 5-15 mm per hour (moderate to heavy) within the topical depression's 300 km diameter.

The local government of Davao City announced class suspension in all schools from pre-school to high school levels due to possible heavy rainfall.
