Veteran actor and comedian Subas Herrero died Friday morning in Rochester, New York in the United States. He was 69.
Herrero died of double pneumonia, told his friend actor Noel Trinidad to GMA News. He is survived by his wife Maripaz and their children Sandra, Inez, Cutuy, Marimi, and Choy.
Herrero is best known for his role in the '80s series "Champoy" in then Radio Philippines Network (RPN). He also performed in the big screen via the movies "Bakekang," "Karapatan ko ang pumatay... Kapitan Guti," and "Gao ya xian."
He is also known as a villain to Fernando Poe, Jr., Ramon Revilla, Joseph Estrada, and Rudy Fernandez. His versatility as an actor also made him land comedy roles in films with Dolphy, Chiquito, Redford White and Tito, Vic and Joey.
He retired from the industry after suffering stroke in 2000.
