A video uploaded in social networking site Facebook showing three Tarlac policemen beating up a man went viral, tackling the issue of police brutality.
The 39-second video surfaced on Sunday, April 7, and has already been shared around 10,000 times. The civilian in orange shirt is seen arguing with the cops until the discussion heated up and the man got cornered by the police officers. One of them is seen kicking and punching the man, who lost balance and hit the ground.
The cops were identified as Police Officers 2 Ritchel Antonio, Gerardo Bermudez, and Fernando Acosta, all active members of the Paniqui, Tarlac police.
The incident took place on March 4 and was witnessed by a number of people. Tarlac police said the three cops were trying to arrest the man for his alleged physical injury offenses, but he tried to evade arrest and assaulted Antonio.
A report from Inquirer said Tarlac police director Senior Supt. Alfred Corpus ordered the administrative relief of the erring PNP personnel and placed them under restrictive custody.
