A 4-year-old boy who had been missing since March 19 was found decapitated and disemboweled in Pililia, Rizal on Thursday.
A report from DZMM said the victim, identified as Mark Elgin Escarmosa, was found decaying with no legs and was hidden in the bushes in a creek near their house in Barangay Malaya.
Investigation showed the boy, who from the basketball court went farther to fly a kite, fell of a cliff straight to the creek. The boy was said to be unfamiliar of the place.
Pililia police Chief Inspector Resty Soriano said the boy's corpse was possibly eaten by animals like monitor lizards and dogs.
"Kahapon po may nag-report sa amin na may natagpuang katawan malapit sa lugar nila. Bungo na lang po ito at wala na po 'yung vital organs niya," Soriano explained.
PO3 Antonio Aragon, the case investigator, was shocked when the boy's relatives decided to burn the place where the body was found. It was suspected that the boy's aunt ordered the burning.
Authorities are still investigating if there was a foul play in the incident.
The body will no longer be autopsied since it was already in the advanced state of decomposition and internal organs were already removed. However, a post-mortem examination will still be conducted to collect more evidence.
