Biographical film "El Presidente: The General Emilio Aguinaldo Story" won the Best World Feature Film at the 4th Soho Film Festival in New York City on Friday.
The film bested 17 other entries from other participating countries, including the United States, Canada, South Korea, India, Germany, and Russia.
The biopic premiered at the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), where it won eight awards, including 2nd Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Cesar Montano.
Its lead actor, Laguna Governo E.R. Ejercito, was not able to attend the filmfest for he is currently on the campaign trail for the May elections. He was represented instead by co-"El Presidente" actor Baron Geisler.
The Soho International Film Festival "celebrates cutting-edge digital technology while honoring traditional forms of storytelling from new and seasoned filmmakers from around the world. It accepts full-length features, short films and documentaries from professional and amateur filmmakers alike."
