GMA Network's public affairs series "Reel Time" is among the 39 recipients of the prestigious 72nd George Foster Peabody Awards, the University of Georgia's Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication announced on Wednesday.
"Reel Time" was the only Filipino program to have earned the award. The show was honored for its documentary on malnourished children titled "Salat (Bone Dry)" which the awards board said "unflinching portrait of a widow with six mouths to feed personifies a brutal statistic: two out of 10 Filipino children are malnourished."
The presentation of the awards will take place at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on May 20.
"Reel Time" airs every Sunday at 8:45pm on GMA News TV.
