Marvel's "Iron Man 3" broke Philippine box-office records as it earned a whopping P62.6 million on its first day of showing in local theaters yesterday, April 24.
The highly-anticipated film, starring Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark, flew off the box-office chart to break the country's all-industry, all-time opening day records. This is according to Victor R. Cabrera, Managing Director of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines.
"Iron Man 3" surpassed the record of "Spider-Man 3" back in 2007, and double of what "Iron Man 2" achieved. The third installment in the franchise also beat "The Avengers'" P56 million record last year.
"Iron Man 3" now plays in over 100 theaters nationwide, in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular theatres.
