Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire (31-1, 20 KOs) faces Cuban fighter Guillermo Rigondeaux (11-0, 8 KOs) on Saturday, April 13 (April 14 in Manila) for the junior featherweight unification bout.
Boxing analysts expect a "tough" and "intense" fight between the two fighters.
In 2012, Donaire was named by RingTV.com as "Fighter of the Year" by defeating high-caliber opponents. He came out of four dominant wins in that year.
Rigondeaux meanwhile, while not the high professional fighter than Donaire is, is often regarded one of the greatest amateur boxers of all-time. The 32-year-old is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, having won the bantamweight division at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics.
The event will happen live at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City at 11 p.m. ET and will be broadcast in HBO. In the Philippines, ABS-CBN Sports will air the fight live via satellite. A replay will be aired at 4 p.m. on Studio 23.
US residents may watch the event live on their computer via the HBO GO pay service.
