President Aquino among Time's 'Most Influential' people

Philippine President Benigno Aquino III is among Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" for this year's list.

Now on its tenth year, "Time 100" honors people in the world who make a difference by being innovative.

The list, published Thursday, put Aquino among the 23 top influencers categorized as "leaders." Other groups include titans, pioneers, icons, and artists.

Other prominent leaders in the list include Pope Francis, U.S. President Barack Obama, South Korea leader Park Geun-hye and North Korea head Kim Jong-un.

Time lauded Aquino's performance to boost Philippine economy and cited his strong stand on crucial issues, including the highly-regarded Reproductive Health Bill.

Malacañang Palace in a statement said Aquino's inclusion in Time 100 is "a true grit which characterizes his leadership."

It said it also highlighted "the optimism, dynamism and renewed pride which has restored the standing of our nation in the eyes of Filipinos and the world."
