"We don't test any of our products on animals. We use Filipino children."
This is what Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan spoke of her punchline in a British stand-up comedy show "Mock the Week" which airs in British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Ryan, who is UK-based, said the punchline in response to the theme "unlikely lines from a cosmetic commercial," where celebrities were tasked for impromptu one-liners for the phrase.
Eventually, Filipino netizens were angered of Ryan's "racist" joke. Netizens on Twitter expressed disappointment. YouTube users even called her "bitch" and "ugly."
Shortly after the show's airing, on her Twitter account, Ryan said:
It was UNLIKELY lines from a cosmetics commercial. *UN-LIKELY*. You'd be very unlikely to hear that. Because it would never happen.

She also said the joke is never on children and told people to watch the show to get perspective and context. Apologetic, she even said Filipino children are "adorable."
