Filipino dance crew "A-Team" grabbed the gold medal at the 2014 World Hip Hop Dance Championship (megacrew division) in Las Vegas on Monday.
The Philippines bested teams from other countries such as the ID CO of New Zealand and the Flyographers Dance Team of Russia, which came in at second and third place, respectively.
It is the first time the Philippines won in the megacrew division of the said event. Most victories came from the Adult Crew category, with The Crew winning in 2012, Armistice in 2011, and the Philippine All Stars in 2009, 2008 and 2006.
"A-Team" made their way to Las Vegas by holding fund-raising performances and joining dance competitions such as the 2014 Hip Hope International Philippines mega crew leg and the Singapore Dance Delight.
They are composed of 39 members, ranging from 15 to 28 years old, and are from St. Paul, Claret School, University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University, among others.
