After the alleged "cheating girlfriend" issue broke out in social networking site Facebook, Ronnie Toribio, the guy in the photos by Iya Mendoza, has spoken up.
"I want to clear my name," Toribio, who is working as a model, said in an exclusive interview by The Dailypedia.
Manayao said the photos were sent while he was abroad, and even showed Mendoza with Toribio, who was driving his car.
But Toribio said in the interview he had known all throughout that the car had been given by Manayao to Mendoza after the latter's family sold her car.
Toribio however said he had not known at first that the car was given by Manayao, because Mendoza told him it was given by her dad.
Toribio also said he received threats from Manayao. He also stressed that Mendoza and Manayao had already broken up before they started dating.
Toribio clarified he has only spoken up to clear his name on the issue.
"Sabi ko, 'Bakit ako pinagbabantaan mo?' (referring to Manayao). 'Kung may problema kayo, ganito ganyan, pag-usapan nyo and at the same time ayaw naman na sa'yo nung babae...bakit pinipilit mo pa yung sarili mo sa taong ayaw sa'yo?," he was quoted in the interview.
He also said Mendoza's family has already discussed with their lawyer about the issue.
"Ang balita ko po kasi ngayon is gumagawa narin ng move itong sila Iya, yung family nya, at nakarating na raw po sa NBI at kinakausap na yung mga lawyer ng family nya," he said.
Toribio however said that he and Iya have not spoken for days, but he said he sent a text message to her to settle the issue with her ex-boyfriend.
Tapos ang text nga po sakin nung isa is galit pa. Na nananahimik na daw sya. Wala na daw syang pakialam sa ganyan. So ang sabi ko lang sa kanya is gusto ko lang is kausapin mo yung lalaki para matigil. Kasi sabi ko, hindi tumitigil eh. Sabi ko, pati ako nadadamay sa mga problema nyo," he said.
Photos of Mendoza and Toribio were shared more than 20,000 times in Facebook after overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Jefferson Manayao posted the infidelity through a status update last Thursday, July 31.
