A Filipina was fatally stabbed in an apparent murder-suicide in Southern California a day after Christmas, CBS Los Angeles reported.
Friends and family identified the Pinay victim as Blessel Ong, 25, from Centre Street, Baldwin Park. His husband, Albert Ong, 49, was also found dead in the scene.
The woman was believed to be a victim of homicide and the man is believed to have killed himself, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said.
Police officers went to the location for a welfare check and found both the victims with upper body stab wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
In a report from Baldwin Park Patch, the investigation revealed the man "stabbed his wife an unknown number of times with a kitchen-style knife," which was recovered at the scene, before stabbing himself to death, according to Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
Detectives discovered that the couple had a history of domestic violence, with Albert serving probation.
One neighbor told reporters that police spent about 45 minutes at the building on Christmas Day. She was unsure why they were there, but said they "walked out ... pretty nonchalant."
The couple recently moved into the neighborhood.
Blessel's friends and family are trying to raise funds to bring her body back to the Philippines.
