The Philippines is the new call center king

The call center industry in the Philippines employs about 700,000 people - a huge amount to account a major percentage in the country's economy. Western industries have been investing in the country because of the Filipinos' talent in speaking almost the same as one American citizen would.

There is a continued patronage among Western companies to invest more in the country and to trust their social assets to call center agents and officials, and as a result, more and more people are getting employed, and some, even licensed nurses, engineers, psychologists, teacher, and other professionals choose the job to become a call center employee rather than taking the field they suppose to take, primarily because of the demand of a better living.

In fact, another business process outsourcing (BPO) giant India is being challenged by the boom of BPO in the Philippines. Labor in the Philippines is cheaper than India so foreign companies would choose the Southeast Asian country, aside from the fact that Filipinos are far better American-speaking.

Call center jobs are highly-sought among Filipinos because it can pay more even with a starting salary. The daily salary one can get as a novice call center agent is almost three times or more with the minimum wage. These jobs are desirable with a country with 7.4% unemployment rate and deep packets of poverty.

Angry Birds Cookbook Finally Released

The success of the Angry Birds game collections have opened up to a new notch in the publishing industry - the 96-page cookbook entitled Angry Birds: Bad Piggies’ Egg Recipes has finally been released November 29th GMT.

It was announced last June that the creators of the game will release a cookbook.

Filled with cute illustrations from the popular bird-slinging game, the cookbook is packed with egg recipes such as breakfast dishes (omelets), heartier fare (egg sandwiches), desserts (souffle) and more adventurous options such as "Egg Sushi".

Here is a sample recipe called "Yammy Dammy" or simply known as Egg Salad Sandwich.

The Finnish computer developer firm Rovio who's behind the success of the popular game, launched the book at Nokia House, the pop-up shop in central London, showcasing the Nokia Lumia 800, the company’s first Windows Phone handset. Angry Birds of course has been available to download on the Lumia since launch.

"Angry Birds: Bad Piggies' Egg Recipes" is out now priced around £10.99 (approx. Php 750.00) from selected retailers including: Amazon, Firebox, Waterstones and Play.com.
